Preview public Spotlight in your browser
The Snapchat Spotlight viewer opens an available public short-form video in your browser. Use a direct Spotlight share link for one post, or enter a public username to browse Spotlight posts available for that Profile.
Supported direct links can include snapchat.com/spotlight/{id} and snapchat.com/@username/spotlight/{id}. Paste the complete link, including the post ID, so the viewer can identify the intended video. Shared messages may contain extra text, so copy the actual Snapchat URL rather than the whole message.
Spotlight is separate from a current Story and saved Highlights. Results can include the video's title, publication date, MP4 format, duration and resolution. Some details may be missing. A label such as Spotlight 1 can appear when no title is provided; it is not the creator's original title.
How to view Snapchat Spotlight
A full public Spotlight share URL provides the most direct lookup. A username is better when you want to discover several public posts and decide which preview matches the clip you had in mind.
The page works online without asking you to sign in to Snapchat. It cannot play private, deleted, age-restricted, region-limited or login-only media that is not publicly available.
Paste the complete public Spotlight link or enter the exact username, then select Find media.

Snapchat Spotlight viewer FAQ
- Which Snapchat links can I use?
- Enter a public username, Profile URL, supported share link, Highlight link or Spotlight link. Some publisher Story links containing /p/ are also supported. Results may include public videos, photos and profile pictures, depending on what Snapchat currently makes available.
- Do I need to sign in to Snapchat?
- No. The tool works with public data and does not ask for Snapchat account credentials. It cannot use this access to open private content.
- Can it recover private, deleted or expired media?
- No. If an item is not publicly available, the tool cannot recover it. Private, removed and expired media remains unavailable.
- Does the tool change quality or remove watermarks?
- The tool does not add or remove watermarks, sharpen photos or increase video resolution. Existing marks remain. Most files download directly; some supported videos are first prepared as an MP4 in your browser. Preparing an MP4 does not create a higher-quality version.
- How do multiple downloads work?
- Selected items are saved as separate files, not a ZIP. Your browser may ask you to allow multiple downloads. Videos that need preparation use temporary browser memory before saving; the site does not keep a hosted media archive. Check your browser's download list for saved files.
- May I reuse the downloaded media?
- Only when you have permission and a lawful reason to do so. Public availability does not transfer ownership or reuse rights.
- Is Spotlight the same as a Snapchat Story?
- No. Spotlight contains public short-form video posts, while a Story is a separate time-sensitive collection. A link to one does not automatically include the other.
- Can the viewer open a restricted Spotlight post?
- No. It only presents media that Snapchat makes publicly available.
- Can I view Spotlight without the Snapchat app or an account?
- Yes for supported public posts available through the web page. The viewer runs in a regular browser and does not require your Snapchat login, but account-only and private media remain unavailable.
- Why does a public Spotlight link stop working?
- The creator may remove the post, or Snapchat may limit it by age, region, login state or other availability rules. The viewer cannot recreate a deleted clip or bypass a restriction.
- Does viewing a Spotlight post download the MP4?
- No. Opening the preview is a viewing action. Use the Spotlight Downloader when you want the browser to save the available video as a file.
- Can a Profile show no Spotlight posts even when it is valid?
- Yes. A public Profile and its Spotlight collection are separate. The Profile can load while its post list is empty, unavailable or no longer shown publicly.
Choosing a Spotlight video and using the player
Open a video to start playback. When several posts are available, the left and right arrows switch clips and try to play the selected video automatically. Your browser may start it muted or require you to press Play; use the player controls to adjust sound or pause. A cover is only a preview image, not proof that the video will load. If playback fails, use View source to check the public Snapchat page.
Format, duration and resolution describe the video Snapchat provides; they do not guarantee HD quality or that every detail will be present. Missing dimensions alone do not mean playback will fail.
